Being open

Standard

It just hit me that I don’t know why it is that I can be such an open book here – so open about how crap I am with work – and at the same time, have such adverse reactions to criticism. They are only telling me things I know already… things I am more than happy to share with the world… so why is it so painful? And why do my supervisors never hear this from me, if I am such an open book? Contradiction, no? WTF is up with that?

  1. I think it's easier to talk about ourselves sometimes than to hear the criticism from others. Maybe we hope they don't see in us what we already know about ourselves. Yet when they mention it, we are hurt somehow that it was that noticeable. That seems like how I am. Like if I say, "Boy, I am getting fat. I need to lose weight" it's one thing. But when someone else says, "I think you are putting on weight, aren't you?" it hurts more. Hugs!
